Today, as we transition into our next phase of growth, we’re announcing significant updates that we’re eager to share with you.
What’s changing
From 31 January 2025 we’re:
Introducing a £20/mo subscription plan
That means, Tutorbloc will no longer be free to use as a tutor. Don’t fret, we’ll be making this transition very slowly: you’ll continue to have access for 2 months post-launch. We wouldn’t be here without your helpful feedback or ongoing patience.. this is our way of saying thank you.
After this period, your account status will be locked offline (meaning you won’t be able to teach) unless you upgrade to our new paid monthly plan. To be clear, you won’t lose any of your data if you don’t subscribe. Instead, you’ll retain access so if you decide to join us in the future, you can get back up and running super-duper fast.
Product strategy
We started as a marketplace, connecting thousands of students with incredible tutors like you. Shipping new features in record time and prioritising safety at every stage. While that was successful, our ambitions grew. And having spoken to many of you over the past 6-9 months, it became apparent that you also felt the same.
There isn’t a single reason that pinpoints this change. Looking back, the expansion to desktop paired with being able to teach any subject did however, uncover latent demand: streamlining admin for established tutors and helping non-academic subject experts to start teaching e.g. exceptional Public Speakers or gifted Designers. These use cases kept us up at night. The more research we did, the more excited we got. So here we are, with a new big hairy audacious goal:
Become the go-to integrated platform powering the next-gen of educators
With that comes another important change: we’ll be passing on the responsibility of finding clients down to you. Designing best-in-class tools to help maximise teaching hours will be our core focus.
